"ona li moku" la moku li kama insa e ona anu jan li moku e ona? nimi "li" en nimi "o" li toki ala. "ona li moku". Does it eat or is it food? "li" doesn't specify whether what follows is a noun/adjective that the subject is being or if it's a verb that the subject is doing. The same problem is shared by o.
kama pona lu kepeken seme|Potential solutions:
o tu e nimi "li" e nimi "o". nimi sin lu tu
Split li in two so there's one for each option. This would have to be done for o as well. Two new words...
jan li moku e ona la o kepeken e nimi "e" ("ona e moku"). taso ni li pali e toki pi sona ala lu sama "mi mute e ona"
Use e instead for indicating being. e already implies that what follows is a noun. But thanks to the mi/sina exception (you can omit "li" when the subject is "mi" or "sina") this would cause some ambiguity of its own (I.E. "mi mute e ona").
ijo pi mi ken lu lon lipu ni li ijo pi jan ale. taso ni li pona lu tawa mi: sina pali e ijo pona lu kepeken ona la o pali e ni: mi sona
